Decisions. Decisions. Decisions
So I have this problem EVERY summer vacation--as the school year ends, I'm thinking of ALL the things I want to do/work on/create/organize for school during my summer vacation; but I also think of ALL the things I want to do at home read(books not related to teaching), scrapbook, workout, organize closets, clean, make crafts from Pinterest, be lazy, watch movies/TV (since I don't really watch during the school year), etc. Each day I'm torn between what I should be doing and what I want to do! Help!!! Summer isn't meant to be working but there are things I'd like to do for school, especially after blog stalking and being on Pinterest each day. I think I have a touch of ADHD because I'll start scrapbooking and think "Oh, this would be so cute in my classroom" and then I get sidetracked and start doing a school project, which then makes me think "I'm supposed to be on vacation, not doing school work" and I end up getting NOTHING done!!
Is it just ME?! Does anyone else have these problems??? Tell me what works for you if you're able to enjoy summer doing things you love AND still get some school things done without it feeling like "work".
I'm on my third week of summer break and I want to feel productive, yet relaxed...is that possible?!? haha!

I definitely feel the same way that you do! I set a goal of 2 projects a week to work on periodically and the rest of the time is relaxing/family/me time. So far it's been working pretty good!

Learning Is Something to Treasure
I'm excited to see that I'm not alone! I stash everything from school in the back room and close the door! It also helps that my husband usually takes his vacation at the beginning of mine, and we go camping. So this way I can actually relax because I can't take anything with me. After that, like Lisa, I do 1 or 2 school projects a week, usually why hubby is working, then the rest of the time is free. Try to relax and enjoy this beautiful thing called vacation. :)
ReplyDeleteThink all night…..Teach all day
It can be a hard balance to find...especially once you get on the computer with blogs and Pinterest! =)
ReplyDeleteI try and do a little of both but remind myself this is summer and time with my family is what matters. =)

Teaching Little Miracles
I have been organizing/purging at home ....Not doing much school things at all...I did ALL home stuff in June, minus a few days, I planned on doing projects only in July. I had my nieces here helping for 3 weeks and have now lost my motivation so I am working on projects, but my sister and family are coming so I have to get back to organization/purging. So maybe we both need to spend x amount of our time on the projects and x amount of the time on home....I have so many of both I want to be long done by August. Just a thought.
ReplyDeleteI am right there with you! It was as if you were reading my mind. I struggle with wanting to get things done with the house, plan for next year, and wanting to just be mom and relax with the family. I think I am just going to have to schedule a little "teaching" time every know and then and only allow myself those times to concentrate on work and let the rest go. By the way, I am passing on the Versatile Blogger Award to you. Please stop by TIPS to pick it up. I would also love it if you would link up to my "Blogs of Inspiration" page if you have not already done so.
ReplyDeleteHappy Teaching,

TIPS: Teach, Inspire, and Prepare Students
Thanks everyone for the ideas of how to handle "everything"! I think I'm going to take one week at a time; alternating home things one week and school the next. Hope it works!
